Sexy, sexy she wolf.

shakira-she-wolf-album-1-1

Many of you may not know this… but I am the proud victim of GIRL CRUSHES.

Yum.

Gentlemen, as you can surely agree there is something that is just truly hypnotizing about a beautiful woman. The way she smells. The way she walks. The way her silhouette makes your mind race. The click click of her heels as she moves past you. I am a devoted fan and supporter of the male species, however I am very guilty of fawning over certain femme fatales that define trends, eras, and the boundaries in which a set of hips can defy its joints.

I have been an enormous Shakira fan since I was a glorious 10 years old, when all of her songs were in Spanish and she had red dreds. She’s successfully crossed over and come a long way. She just released her new single “Loba” in Spanish and “She wolf” in English. This video is stupid hot. It has 3 crucial elements:

A flesh colored body suit.

A cage.

Howling.

Check out shakira.com for the full video!!!

Eat it up.

Dope Girl Thursday: Claudeen Benoit

July 30, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Drum roll please…

Claudeen

Occupation: Actress

Resides: Fell in love with BROOKLYN

I’ve never met someone with a more inviting and warm personality. I didn’t have the chance to meet Claudeen before shooting her, but we were, you named it, Facebook buddies.  Her tagged photos and profile picture album kept me on her page for a good five minutes.  Her life was so, interesting to say the least.

We met up at the Morgan stop off of the L train and walked around for a little bit after finally finding a cool spot to set up. She wore some of the best outfits. One look was a metallic silver dress, pink leggings and bright blue pumps, accessorized with a blue military cap…DOPE and a definite reflector of her personality. I would have to say though, the best part of the day with Claudeen was the vintage shopping we did after. She knew all the hot spots, $5 leather flats? I’m not mad at that.

When she wins her first Oscar, I will brag and boast I shot her first.

Ryoko Suzuki:What IS it Like to be a Lady?

July 30, 2009 · Leave a Comment

ANIKORA-SEIFUKU02

Ryoko Suzuki, a Japanese-based artist examines the hyper-sexualization common in “Manga” or popular Japanese animations. Within each of her surrealist photographs, Suzuki takes on the role of the seductive teen girls meant to entice older male viewers. By doing this, she visually express her discontent with such depictions of Japanese girls. The featured photos are from the series ANIKORA-SEIFUKU, check out her website to view the rest.

I Have JUST ONE Question…

July 30, 2009 · Leave a Comment

….Or rather I have a website that asks one critical question. Why The F*** Do You Have a Kid? as of right now is one of the funniest and most disturbing submission blogger sites I’ve visited in awhile. There’s Awkward Family Photos, and Fuck My Life, but this site just takes  inappropriateness to its extreme.

All the people in the photos on this site need to consider using their damn brains, condoms and birth-control were invented for morons like these.

Michael Jackson v 2.0 (Biologically Speaking, Too)

July 30, 2009 · 2 Comments

There has been all types of controversy surrounding the biological identities of Michael Jackson’s three kids. But during an interview with E! online, our favorite father to hate, Joe Jackson, confirms that 25 year old Omer Bhatti is the love-child of the late, great MJ. I’m looking at pictures, and the guy even looks like MJ.

WORD? It’s hard to invest too much faith in Joe Jackson, considering that painful interview with CNN after MJ’s death when he shamelessly plugged his record label (huge fail, btw). But even Jermaine Jackson has semi-confirmed his relation, and he was clearly sitting next to Janet during the memorial service. And if genes have anything to do with dancing, dude looks like he might be a bonafide descendant.

Tune In This Fall…

July 29, 2009 · Leave a Comment

I was musical queen growing up. Mary Poppins, Alice in Wonderland, Pied Piper– I was cast as the lead in them all because I was obsessed with the idea of life being a stage. My headspace was filled with Broadway shows with myself as the leading role, which made for some awkward moments, considering I’d be popping and jerking and talking to myself in hallways. Obviously popularity wasn’t an issue for me.

So I’m on Hulu, looking for a break, and I come across Glee. I read the corny description, questioned it’s high rating and finally decided to watch the pilot, which resulted in me being pleasantly surprised. It’s brilliant. It’s smart and awkward, and supported by a cast that does the witty script-writers justice on encapsulating the song and dance of the high school struggle (and I mean that literally). Think HSM turned into a sitcom about kids who are trying to make Glee club cool again.

Here’s a clip of taking a cue from my book and acting out on the impulses the script in her head tells her to do. She belts her heart out to Jazmine Sullivan’s “Bust Your Windows” after she literally busts this dude’s car. She apparently can’t tell that no amount of damage is going to make him STRAIGHT again. Sorry, bubs.

more about "Tune In This Fall…", posted with vodpod

Make sure to tune in to FOX this fall and catch Glee. Go to Hulu.com to see the Pilot.

I met this girl when I was 10 years old…

July 28, 2009 · Leave a Comment

cantstop

When did it happen to you?  When did you fall face first onto the hot pavement…?

Love struck.

Was it when her beautiful eyes met yours as she floated passed you? Maybe her long dark legs moving to a beat that matched the rhythm of the ventricles inside your chest. Could it have been the purity of her grin as she revealed the essence of your existence upon opening her mouth? Or was it the way you felt every. single. word. she uttered…sweep past your ear, penetrating deep as she slowly stole the virginity of your neurons. Firing them off…

one.

by.

one.

Sending cold vibrations that gripped your spinal chord. You’re entire body was an action potential. Your skin covered in raised hairs and your right foot began to tap…

tap tap tap to the beat. Thinking to yourself:

HOT DAMN.

The fuck was that?

HIP-HOP. She likes it raw, lives loyal, and is unquestionably…one of them life altering bitches.

My affair with her has made me a fiend for books written about her.

The following book has been a part of my library for quite some time and whether you are the conscious, pop, southern, gangster, or hard-core fan… I recommend adding it to yours as well. It is an account of the culture that hip-hop created and how it’s changed over the last few decades. Everything from the gangs of the Bronx to the swag of the Cali movement and the artists in between.

So Phat kids… do it how the nerds do. Walk into your local Barnes and Noble (I should pay rent there) and pick it up. It is slightly but respectably opinionated, YET incredibly informative.  Jeff Chang’s Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop: The History of The Hip-Hop Generation gives you the history lesson we all wish we got junior year of high school.

504x_VOGUEBARBIECOVER0721

The Black Issue has been all the rave as of late with magazines like TRACE and  ITALIAN VOGUE filling their shiny slick pages with African-American models, exclusively.  Steering away from the fashion industry norms, the enlightened team over at the magazine highlighted Barbie’s 50th anniversary with, you named it, a 22-paged spread featuring African-American dolls. Kudos and the photography is absolutely beautiful.
